I'm going to take a chance and predict the outcome of your little survey here, judging on the posts I've read with names on them.
I think we'll find that there are more males in this hobby than females. I, myself, am a female and love to write back and be heard... So, in saying that am I proving myself wrong? Will more females participate in this survey and slant the outcome of the pole? Only time will tell!!!

I never really gave much thought to this subject. But I would assume that it will be pretty close. Though I personally only know one female reefaholic. But I do belive that there are more males than females in this hobby.

we have a reef club here in orlando i would say that on 25% of th emembers are women, and i am including ladies that get dragged into it cause their boyfriend of husband does it

I don't know any girls that are into salt tanks. When I am at the lfs store it is always guys, with the exception of girlfriend that does not understand why that pretty fish cost so much. LOL
By the way I am female. Best line I hear at the lfs "What size to you have?" LOL

Thanks for the great laugh chaser--I agree there are WAY more males and I'd also bet that male or female most are single with no kids. Take it from me it's very difficult to find the time for tanks when you've got 4 little kids running around

Terry - not sure what stats you've read, but all the studies/surverys I've seen done show that the internet is male-dominated, particularly in the 24-40 year old range, although the gap has been closing.
It does not surprise me that there are more men than women on this board. I do agree, that more women would not be a bad thing, not just on this BB, but involved in the internet altogether.

It would be a great thing to have more women in the hobby! I am slowly infecting all of my friends with the saltwater tank syndrom (STS for short). One of the symptoms is spending too much money on glass boxes.
