Are you really growing ACRO'S under T-5's

ive only started to add acros recently, but ive gotten a bit of growth with T5. my monti is growing like crazy.

Any one else......
Monti will kinda grow under low lighting also.....

T5 are by no means low light, they put out an emense amount of PAR and Lumes per bulb. I have see a 120g tank lit by an 8 bulb t5 fixture, with only a skimmer and calcium reactor and all the SPS had great color and outstanding growth. And the tank was all SPS dominated.
T5 are second best to MH IMO, if not just as good, they put out little to no heat, the light penetrates as deep as MH's, they put out almost as much Par as MH's, and dont have to be changed as often.
Compared to VHOs or PC light, T5's are the best fluorescent lights for SW.

I put halides on my tank about a month ago and i can tell my growth has slowed down but i have 8wpg of pc lights.. Hope they pick up soon.

Scoobs, everytime i read a post of yours, that picture kinda freaks me out.
I love my T5's. everything in my tank is doing great. yellow polyps, zoos, xenia, open brain, shrooms, acros, and a big carpet.
the acro is looking good and has grown a lot since it went in my tank

acros will grow just fine under t-5s. lighting isnt the only thing to consider when talking about growth though. flow is a big contributor as well as water parameters and feeding.

This is my result with a 156 watt T5 on a 45 gal tall. The first on is in March of this year and the second was taken a week ago and it is still growing almost daily. The clown is approx. 3 inches for reference. I am going to experiment on the power of T5's and coral as well.

you cant talk growth if you dont take everything else into consideration.
that being said, acros will grow fine under t-5s.

Interesting. My lfs has always told me acros only grow under MH, then they try to get me to upgrade my T-5's.

i like that.
but my acros have done good under my T5's. i'm sure MH would be better, but i am happy with what i have got.
