I think these crabs are absolutely amazing, and after realizing that i may be having a bristle worm problem, i am considering getting one, BUT my question is are they hardy, and are they easy to care for?

I've had mine about 6 months. He is great, not hard to care for in my opinion. I have him in a 55Gallon - Semi-Reef. No corals yet but in work. Lots of Live rock and NO SHORT supply of bristle worms, so he has plenty to eat that way.
He also chases mysis and brine when I drop in the normal fish food. He has molted twice now that I can tell, hangs out in the day and seems to get more active when there is lower light, or moon lights.
So as long as you acclimate, and have a ample supply of live rock with worms, copepods etc , I have found him very easy to care for.
I purchased mine from this site, right here at SWF ! Good luck !

They are opportunistic bristle worm eaters, and thats mostly if they are under fed. They really arent going to do much crowd control. Mine lasted 2 months before he climbed out. I never saw him eat a single bristle worm. And my population of bristle worms is more than enough for him to once in a while have as snack.
Arrow crabs will race across the tank beating everyone to the food. The long legs mean they will step right over everyone. Its like watching those walkers from war of the worlds. Kinda cool. neat crabs.
I dont know how hard they are to care for. Mine took care of himself, my water was good, so I cant claim how hardy they are...I found him outside the tank dead one day. Price to pay for lidless tank.

Oh and why do you want to get rid of probably one of the best parts of your CuC? Bristle worms are great detritus eaters. They do absolutely far more good than harm.

Interesting. I had mine crawl into one of the fans in the canopy. There were crab legs everywhere....
And oh, with an arrow crab, you can't keep shrimp, save for maybe a large CBS that could fend for itself. The arrow crab will make short work of them.

I have 4 peppermints in with mine and he has never bothered the shrimp. The shrimp even hang around where my arrow crab sits most of the day and he never bothers them. Maybe I'm just lucky too!
