arrowhead crabs

IMO all crabs have the "potential" to eat coraline, but it is more of an attuitude.
From my understanding arrow crabs mainly eat detiris and leftover food. And the occassional bristle worm.
Based on their physiology, I wouldn't think they would be much of a threat to corralline. Their claws are much to small.
Just my thoughts........MCF

I am not sure about the coraline. But, I do know that some arrows can be dangerous in a reef. I cant remember why exactly. I think it has something to do with other inverts bothering them, vice versa, or the arrows bothering some corals. If I have the time later, I will check it out and post more. Cause the dang things are cool looking.

they are arrow crabs but I have heard people call them arrowhead crabs, they are pretty cool looking, so far he has not bothered anything in my tank, not even my 2 coral banded shrimp. but I have noticed that some of my purple coral aglae is missing. It is either the new founded critter the emarld crab or him. I hope he does not have to take a trip back to the fish store;)
PS... You guys are great on this site, I think I am becoming a swf junkie.

they have the potential to kill and scare fish. My friends fishes started dieing one by one, usually hiding. After the arrow crab was gone, everything was fine. I wouldnt put it in a small tank anything uner 50 gallons. I doubt it eats coraline. It mainly ate flakes and left of food, as stated

Thanks for all the info, I think I will keep him around a little longer, hopefully he can stay awhile. My 10 year old son really likes him, but most boys like creepy looking critters:eek:

I had problems with my emerald "scraping" at the coraline. It could be the emerald. I could always find him by the new "scrapes" on the LR coraline....Also to add, I had two arrows (that met their maker in my condy). But before that, each never looked liked they did anything but hang out. What, if you know, is the new found critter?

I think the new found critter is a emarld crab, but I have not added any lr in over a year, I guess he has been hiding all this time, have not been unable to get a picture of him. The only new thing is the arrow crab. When i added him my purple aglae started missing, so i just assumed he was doing it.
Maybe someone has growed up in my tank that I did not know I had.
