Holly cow man. That is one big clam. What did ya pay for him? You have a nice reef tank man. Looks like you have a very mature tank bro. All of your corals have grown together that is very nice. I keep upgrading and my corals do not have a chance to grow together yet they are getting bigger. Keep up the good work. I wish everyone did not live so far away. I would LOVE to spend a few hours at everyones house looking over their tanks and seeing all of the DYI stuff. It is amazing what people can come up with. Maybe we could try to patient (spelling sucks. I thought I would point it out before some one we all know did). We could split to profits and maybe pay for our habbit. Keep it up bro.

hey thanks josh
my reef tank, although looking mature, is only i beleive 2-3 months old.. but i also do weekly 5% water changes and keep up with testing and all levels and my addatives, so thus far it is going very well thankfully! but my stuff od growing VERY quickly..i already fragged my xenia 5 times along with ALOT of other stuff cause its getting int he way
i actually only paid $150 for the clam because i do alot of buisness with the kid that sold it to me,, i think thats a STEAL! considering i could probably get a few hundred bucks for it
ive thought about building custom tanks, refugiums etc. etc for people and hopefully i will be able to once i open my pet store( hopefully that dream becomes a reallity)

My GOD, your tanks are beautiful!! I'm just about to get started in the hobby again. Couple of questions for ya, how much time would you estimate you spend a week in tank maintanance - Reef and fish?

psu...if you do go to vegas stop in on Acrylic tank Manufacturers "ATM" acrylicaquariums.com....and just take alot of notes on how they set up the business and then go for it...Its your calling for sure.

oh boy..this is a tough one.. honestly ive made evrythign as maintenence free as i possibly can,, or in other words all i have to do for top offs and water changes is plug my pump in and their done. i have two 55 gallon drums always filled with fresh RODI water.. one for water changes one for top-offs so i just hit the switch and its done the lines are ran both right into the back of my tanks! i do a 5% water change every single week on my reef and a 25% water change on my FOWLR tank every month(100 gallon water change a pop)
other than that with feeding, cleaning , changing skimmers, testing water, dosing chemicals, adjusting, etc. etc.. i would say i spend about an hour to two hours a day give or take on given days soo.. it is alot of work but if you want nice tanks its appropriate

Katz Sweet tanks. Love the corals.
thank you very much :joy:

hey psusocr1. what are the dimensions of your 300 gallon and how many lbs of live rock are in your 75gal.......thanks

psusocr1

the dimensions of the 300 are 96x30x24
i would say i have about 150 pounds in the 75 gallon give or take, its hard to judge sinc ei have alot of really big heavy pieces in there, all i know is im out of room in there for corals, thus my 300 will be my reef soon and i will build my 600 FOWLR

one more thing what type of lights are those on your 300 gallon. i will be starting a 210gallon fo tanks soon..no live rock...no sump...72x24x29high and i'm not sure if regular flourescent lights will do the trick

regular flouros will do the trick ( especially if you get 50/50 daylight bulbs and actinic flouros)but i have 72" PC system on there with a descent amount of watts, since sometimes my reef is overcrowded and i put some corals in there for awhile
also if you dont have a sump how are you going to run a tank that large filtration wise?
my other questions is if you dont have any live rock the fish will have nowere to hide, thus making them feel uncomfortable which can lead to bad things.
i only have a bit of live rock in my tank because of my stingrays but if id idnt i dunno where my fish would go if they get scared or at night they all sleep in the live rock etc. etc.
