ASMg5 skimmer problems...help..

Ok i recently bought an asmg5 skimmer an everything went great for a few days an now for some reason it will run great for awhile an them for no aparent reason the water level in the skimmer will drop to a little less then half full.Havent changed anything since when it was working great .So when it happens i have to pull the return pipe all the way up an then it fills back up then i adjust to level i want then a few hours later there it goes back to half full?an ideas?

also i have 2 elbows an a straight pipe down back into skimmer area from the outlet of skimmer, could the elbows be causeing this?

There's no reason for all the elbows...If it were me I'd remove all the extra junk and let the skimmer run the way it was shipped for a few months...You need to break it in.
After a while you might want to remover the riser tube and add a gate vale..This will allow for better fine tuning.

yes ive bin reading about the gate valve mod ..however with out the elbows on the riser tubes the water pretty much shoot straight up out of it ..a bit too much splashing going on ya know

Yeah, I know what you mean..pretty sure your riser tube is 1.25" PVC,what ever it is this mod will work for the splashing...I dumped this mod for the gate valve.

basically looks like a T an elbow an a straight lenght?...open on top of T?looks like straight pipe stops about 5 inches from the skimmer bottom?...i tryed home depot an lowes today neither had a pvc gate valve.Ill have to order one on line..i have a great site for anything plastic/pvc..thanks golfishy

The 5" depends on the adustment of the riser tube...other then that your right on the money.
I paid about 19.00 for my 1.25" gate valve online... You got be carefull which one you order. Some are MUCH bigger then others and some have metal screws in em. If you have any doubts shoot me an e-mail

hey golfish ..thanks that mod of your was a dream....so much better thanks...eventually ill go with the gate valve ...but this is working great for now..thanks again.....
