"Some generics are the same bioavailability, some have different fillers, etc."
Years ago, I was taking Percocet. Back when I was young and stupid. I'd taken brand name, and everyone was saying that generic was the same. The company that made Percocet (Merck) also made a GENERIC. They said it was made of "the exact same stuff". It was cheaper. A LOT Cheaper. So one time I got it. I learned very quickly that it was NOT the "exact same stuff".
It was driving me nuts, because I thought that my brain was just playing tricks on me, and I don't like that sort of thing. Merck swore for over a year that it was exactly the same. Finally, one decent guy did admit that it was actually made differently. It's been a while, but I don't think he said outright that it didn't have as much of the active ingredient, but he did admit that it had different fillers and was NOT "the exact same stuff". That made me feel better.
Why would a company make generics exactly like the brand name when they get paid the same amount whether it's like the brand name drug or not? They would make it as cheaply as possible, and with as little of the most expensive ingredients (ie: the actual drug) as they could get away with. General business. That would only make sense. Would you think differently?
I know why generics are around, and most of the time, it doesn't matter. If it's not working like it should, the doctor just ups the dose. It doesn't work that way with pain medicine. If it doesn't work like it should, too bad. If someone steals your

for that month, too bad. You're SOL whichever way you turn.
I might also mention that the pain doctors do not try to get rid of all, or even MOST of your pain. Their "goal" is to get you down to "half the worst pain of your life". How long do you expect people to live in "half the worst pain of your life"?? If someone's back is bad enough to be taking strong pain meds, then they've been through some pretty horrendous pain. Half the worst pain of your life is not OKAY.
Okay, then. Enough ranting for now. : D
