Atlantic Blue Tang Still Going Strong

Well its bin about a month now that I have my atlantic blue tang and the fish is still going strong. The fish has gained so much color and is eating like a pig. I was always a fan of the powder blue as a favorit fish but I must tell you the atlantic blue might beat out the powder blue. I will try to post some picture later today. "O" I must give my self credit here for this fish

I am very happy for you. They are not one of the hardiest fish in the world. Just keep them on a very varied diet with lots of nutrition.
If I may ask, where did you find an atlantic blue and how large was it when you bought one? I am in the Allentown area all the time and I would love to get an atlantic blue for my 210 if I could find a healthy one.

I found the fish in Quakertown at the Pets-plus. They seem to get them in from time to time. I stop by there just about every day to see what they have.

What other lfs' do you shop at? I go to shear heaven and that fish place. Other then that, I don't care for most of the locals. I saw that thread on the christmas worm rock, was that over at pet-plus too? Do they carry coral?

I am a Shear Hevan die hart. But the atlantic blue was the only fish I ever purchased at pets plus. I still stop by pets plus to see what they get in. Never by corals from pets plus in quakertown. Their coral tank is the pits. Shear Heven is the only place I ever purchase corals for my reef tank. You might pay a little more but to me its worth it.

Keep in mind that tangs can live 50-70yrs....so 1 month is good....but don't to get to cocky yet

Just like I haven't said anything about my Moorish Idol...every day is a victory....but nothing to get to excited about till the 1 yr mark..

I got my favorite brain from shear heaven. It's like you said, they're a little overpriced, but they carry nice stuff. I get my "good deals" over in lancaster at the fish place. You never know what they might have. Shoot, half the time, they never know what they have. A lot of time they list items in one section as assorted corals for $30-40. You can get some nice size pieces out of there.

not to get too far off subject, but I tried twice w/blue linkias. I almost had one for a week. I believe it has more to do with the shipper and how the handle/keep them. I've never had trouble with fromia or marble. I know they're more hardy, but my 240 with all the good stuff in there should've been enough to suffice....

no heater, what I do is acclimate in small bucket, which sits in my sump, keeping the water the right temp, as I drip it for 4-5hrs.

I go to that fish place also. It has soooooooooo many fish/corals to choose from, and their prices are good, get most of my supplies there also. i think their LR is a bit over priced, you can get it much cheaper at the hidden reef in Philly, if you can do the drive its worth it!

I figured that for the $$$ that they want for LR, it should have a lot more coraline coverage. Although, I did once get a hot piece of tonga branch that was worth a lot more then I paid.
