Atlantis

I will be going to Atlantis on a company sponsored trip (flight/lodging) in October.
Can anyone give me some information on things to do and see while we are there? Also, any places to eat for not a lot of $$$.
The golf course is looking pretty inviting - but I am not sure if I want to drag my clubs and all that and pay $200 for the round.

If its a company paid thing, they might have gotten the package that includes the fun things to do, and the food. I want to go there sometime, let me know if you liked it or not.

Ill post just to keep this thread alive and make sure you let us know how it went. Im always looking for a nice place to go. Sorry i cant offer any advice.
IMO, I would def leave the clubs at home for $200. I cant imagine a better place to golf than in paradise. anyways if you save 200 on golf then you dont have to worry about eating cheap, right.

also have fun

Go, go, go!!! It is SOOO worth it. It is my absolute favorite place in the world. You never have to leave the resort. The aquariums and the snorkeling on the beaches is worth the trip alone, not to mention the fabulous food at the resort, the incredible service, and all of the other fun things there is to do within the resort (shopping, casino, beach, pools, arcade, movies, golf, etc.)

wow i am jealous of u ! im saving every penny i can to go back there...but usually spen it on my tank
. theres tons of stuff to do at the resort u really never have to leave. but if u do theres Nassau right across the way with the "straw market" and a bunch of shops and resstaurants... and duty free liquor
. if ur gonna try to get away with not spending alot of $$$ forget it...when i was there with my GF we budgeted $50-breakfast/$50-lunch/$120-dinner for the both of us per day
, its kind of tough when a can of coke is $3 at the pool
. as for things to do... u will walk aroud there with ur jaw droped for the first day just looking at the tanks and lagoons...then u can spend a whole day in the water park...but wear sunblock! i got lit up riding around the lazy river for 4 hours
.
P.S. dont forget extra memory sitck for ur camera i used up 2GB easy
hers a link to some pics of some of the sea life

Yup

The casino in the mornings are a great time to play. My wife (g/f at the time) hit big, seemed a lot of people were hitting big in the mornings.
The hotel only beach is great too, no body else but hotel guest and no peddlers asking you to by crap. Going into town is cool, nice cigars and liquor, its kind of how Cancun used to be you, can talk people down on a lot of stuff. The taxi cab rides are a trip in itself. If they quote you 8 bucks say no more then 4 dollars. They will pack the van full anyway, I learned that once. They drive like nuts, its something to do once.
They have a tour of a rum brewery, you get loaded quick, at least I did.
Golf is a little on the expensive side, The one we played at is like cable creek or something like that, nice course a little cheaper then Atlantis.
The diving is a fun time to just chill out, if you have a “C” card, other wise the snorkeling is just a good. A lot of stuff to see in shallow waters.
The water park is awesome like morval said, and yeah bring spf 100, that sun will tan your hide PDQ.
All the lagoons and tanks, you'll go crazy with a camera, make sure it a digital, unlike my dumb A_SS.
Food, aaah yeah plan on a paying out the nose, unless they have all inclusive now your going to pay. Most of the food was good and some was a little “ ah I can do with out that”
Have fun and enjoy, I’m very envious.

What is the best place to stay when there?
We stay at Atlantis. I think Atlantis is the big name resort no others can compare to, i'm not sure.
The only reason why or how I found out about the Atlantis was when we were on the Norwegian Dawn the first time and one of its stops was Atlantis and it docked next to the island they kept insisting that we go and check that out.
On our second cruise to the Bahamas we decided to go check it out.
That’s how we/I found out about how great that place was.
We decieded to booked four nights at the Atlantis royal towers and wished we had booked the full week.
If you go you are going to drop a lot of cash if you want to do a lot of the excursions. Know that when you come home you will totally be relaxed and had enjoyed a true get away.

Atlantis is the resort to stay at but Sandals also has a nice inclusive resort too. For my honeymoon we were on budget so we didn't stay at the Atlantis. We spent the first two nights at the Comfort Inn which is across from the Atlantis but you still got the pool privelages to the Atlantis. This was 8 years ago so double check if this is still true. We then spent 8 nights at the Sandals Resort.
For a very nice dinner off the resort property check out the Gray (or maybe Grey) House. Very nice quiet atmosphere in town with nice martinis, cigars, and surf/turf.

As I mentioned before ... is there anywhere to eat that isn't a lot $$$ We are not looking to have every meal be a sit down. Any quick food?

Its really not that we are trying to be cheap - but the timing of the trip isn't that great. We are saving for a home down payment and keeping spending down.

As you leave the island that Atlantis is on, going into town there is a bunch of restaurants just over the bridge. Its been 8 years but I believe there is only one bridge going from town to the Atlantis island. As you head back over the bridge towards town there are a few casual restaurants where you can eat and look at the water. Bar and sandwich type food but it will fit your budget. While there you have to try the Conch. It is a great fish meat and the serve it in everything...

I should mention, the restaurants I mentioned are tourist restaurants, not local fares where you would feel unsafe.
