I didn't need a tang when I bought a yellow eye/Kole Tang just to make him better. He was laying on his side looking like a blue hippo tang sometime does. The employee says all tangs lie down. My yellow tang doesn't and I hadn't seen many tangs (except hippo tangs) lie done before. I bought him and he hasn't beeen lying in the sand since.

We bought a porky puffer from the ***** on Hacienda in Vista, Ca. After a week of not eating we started asking Qs on this board under someone elses thread for a porky that was also not eating. After trying everything short of live freshwater fish (even bought live mussels on someones advice) we called our old fish dude in Dayton, Ohio. He said to call the ***** and ask if they had been feeding it live freshwater fish. I did and they said yes. I called the fish dude back and he said that puffers develop an addiction to the freshwater feeders and that it could cause fatty liver disease if continued. He told us that it would be very hard to get him to start eating healthy again and suggested we return it. We called the ***** and told them what our guy told us and they said he was stupid and that it is perfectly alright to feed puffers freshwater fish and they do it all the time. I went to a puffer website that confirmed what our fish dude told us and we took the puffer back and asked for a refund which they were obviously not happy with, but did anyway because the fish was not dead and their 2 day warranty applied to dead fish. The night mgr who sold us the fish was honest and told us that he didn't really know that much about the fish and didn't even know what they had been feeding them. Felicia was the girl that did the refund and I don't remember the older woman's name that tried to dispel our fish dudes info. We will not buy fish from this store again. This was our first and only fish purchase from *****. All our other fish have come from an Asian guy in Encinitas that has been in the saltwater business for years and seems to really care for the fish. I also heard that you're not supposed to net puffers, but catch them in a container so they don't try to inflate out of the water. Ours followed my stick right into a plastic container with no net. (***** did use a net in an otherwise empty tank)
Thanks for trying to help.
Sincerely
Phil & Lisa

Oh a very sad note, I went to my local ***** last night from some non fish stuff (chinchilla/kitty stuff just incase you wondered ) and they have about 20 tanks with salt water and everything was dead! all the poor little clowns, tangs, everything! The guy working there was trying to fix things and said that someone left the freshwater on and freshwater poured into the system and killed everything the SG was none! It almost made me cry a poor little niger was just holding on for dear life. The guy also said "last time this happened I added it up and it was about $800 worth of fish" and all I could think was last time! You mean this has happened more the once!? Poor babies.
DaneDodger- Sure you can copy and paste what I said. It really was very heartbreaking! I almost felt like saying "give me the fish!" So I could take them to my friend's tank and try and save the ones that were holding on. One part that bothered me the most that I didn't mention before was that this girl came over to the guy that I was speaking with (the one that worked there) and she worked there as well... well the guy said something to her about her leaving the fresh water on and she was like no it wasn't me it was so-and-so, laughing about it. It was like all these fish have died because someone was lazy and they just thought it was funny. I seemed to me that ***** should leave such things to more experienced, caring people and not just the kid that runs the register. I am sure it would save ***** a lot of $ in the end. It also really bugged me that the female employee was cursing around a young child and if I had been that mother I would have said something to her. But of course this poor kid is seeing all these dead fish and cursing, wow great job *****! In fact the male employee told me that it was a child that told them that the fish were dead, he said a little kid came over and said "all the fish are sleeping all at once" heart breaking, just heart breaking! Oh one other thing the guy said to me was "hey for all we know it could be some cool like drug trip for them!" Yeah I don't think dying is a cool drug trip.

The ***** around me is horrible and they are not willing to cooperate. In the fish department the person is awesome but I would still never buy fish there. I just bought a Groumi from there and it died. I also saw a blue hippo covered in ich still for sale. Its awesome to see a person trying to make a change.

Board Bashing, People Bashing and especially ***** Bashing really serves no useful purpose.
I'm going to lock this but leave it up, so you can read it, think about it and even write letters of concern to the parties mentioned above if you feel the need...
But there's not much need to fuel the fires, here, so to speak...
