Any suggestions, other than getting rid of any fish, to help minimze the aggressivness of my established yellow tang towards my new auriga butterfly? I have a 55gal w/ a coral beauty, neon goby, percula clown, yellow damsel, and royal gramma all of which get along fine w/ the yellow tang- of course all of them were added at the same time. However, the tang is harassing the new butterfly.

Well, you can completely change the rockwork around so he thinks he's in a new home...
When my tang started harrassing my new copperband I removed him from the tank for about a week, but it didn't help. Of course if he is harrassing the angel but it's not that bad then he may stop on his own, (that's what mine did), if he's nipping fins and promoting to much stress then you may hafta change his environment.

I have seen it happen in my tank and have heard others say the same thing, that a yellow tang is prone to bullying new fish but generally get tired of it within a couple days and things settle down.

I do hope you know that the yellow tang and butterfly are going to outgrow your tank eventually. Butterfly aren't as hardy and they NEED excellant water condition!!!! I hope your not having a reef tank, cause most of them are not reef safe. By rearranging rock works will establish a new territory and by removing the tang and reintroduce with the new fish at sametime will establish a new territory also. Leave the lights off during this process and turn the lights on an hour later. Hope this work! :happyfish

you might need a bigger tank to solve this one. The tang probably needs a little more territory and the butterfly too. If not then try rearranging the rocks
