auto feeders

Does anyone have any experience with automatic feeders. I plan on going on vacation next month and really don't have anyone to feed my fish. My sump will hold enough water for a week. No one to feed the fish daily though. I can get someone to check on it every couple days though. I just need to know if an auto feeder is a good idea or not.

Most automatic feeders are'nt very reliable, more times than not they will jam and get clogged from the evaporating water dampening the food. If you could get someone to feed the fish every couple days they should be fine

The number 1 killer of fish is fish food. IMO, your fish are much better off not being fed for a week than having someone that isn't an aquarist feed them.
