Im gonna throw together an auto top off system with a double float switch off of this site http://autotopoff.com/products/DS1/index.htm and run a little Tom Dosing Pump out of a 10 gallon rubbermaid garbage can. only question I have is preventing a syphon... my resevoire is going to be higher than the sump and i would prefer not to have to run the return line into the top of the tank. If the garbage can is closed would the syphon be prevented if i were to poke a tiny hole in the tubing as to where air can enter (to break the syphon) but the hole is small enough for water to be pumped through efficiently? Has anyone tried this out?
