Automatic feeding systems?

Has anyone had any experience w/automatic feeding systems? My work takes me to the other coast from time to time and I know few people around me whom I could trust to feed fish.
I have seen the disolving type, but they seem sketchy.
I am new to sw fishkeeping so I plan to get hardy fish that do not require live food. Specific brands of reputable feeding systems would be great.
On a similar subject, could anyone recomend a system that monitors water quality. I will probably have to resort to a service to care for the tanks, but I thought I'd ask.
Thanks in advance.

I'm in the same boat. What I did was hook my lights up to a timer (you can find one at your lfs) and then bought an automatic feeder. It's a round plactic container that has a hole in it. You put the food in the container then stick it onto the turning device. It makes 1 rotation every 12 hours dumping food into the tank. I've only tried it with flake food that I crushed finely to make sure it would fall out. Then I get my father to stop by every other day to put some frozen shrimp in the tank for my eel.
Good luck.

The system that Ryan is talking about works well. You can also put pellets in it.They fall out better.but if you are going to be gone for a week or more, you should have someone check on the tank every other day or so. They will also need to reload this feeder. As for the quality tester, cant help you there. Maybe have the person take a sample to yout LFS for testing while you are away.
