Avg. Life of power head.

What is the avg. life of a power head ?
Mine was a maxi-jet 1200 with mod for 5+ years. I had recently put it on a timer set to 12 hours on/off, which might have helped it to an early demise.
Just asking to know.

I have an aquaclear from around 1996. besides removing calcium deposits it works flawlessly (even though its been retired since 07').

I have an mj1200 thats at least 8 years old and still going like a champ and I have had them crap out after 2 years as well. if you average those two out the average would be about 5 years LOL. most of mine being run on 30 second to 3 minute intervals only last about 2 years or less before they give up the ghost. I dont know why the one has lasted for as long as it has but its still running.

I have a couple of power heads that are 8+ years old. I have replaced the impeller in one. I beleive with proper maintenance that they can last along time. The ones I had to replace were the ones that I let corraline alage take over or let the impeller container calcify.
