Thank you for the article. It answered one question that I had for sure. My other loner male is now carrying eggs!!!! Obviously, I have a very "fertile Myrtle" as far as my female. I have 2 males and one female, she has been a very active little girl in the past 2 weeks.
Both males stay on opposite sides of the tank. She seems to wander to both sides of the tank!!

The males don't tolerate each other at all, but obviously she has decided to see who is the fitest. Only time will tell.
Just my luck, I have no experience in this and now I have 2 broods to worry about.

Wow, you have your hands full. I'm surprised you are able to keep two males alive in the same tank. Normally they would kill each other, or worse the "mated" pair would kill the third. Which is why you usually have to split them up when they reach sexual maturity (around 10 months old). Unlike most fish, in breeding Cardinals you just need one female and a few males. But, you've learned that already now havn't you.

I'll keep checking back.

Update........
Well, I obviously miscalculated the due date.....here is daddy, and one of the babies. He is not finished...many more to come, so am waiting for the rest. I think I scared him today when I was moving rocks around....my large toadstool fell, so I had to rearrange. The baby has been in the feather duster all day since the scare, as you can see doing very well.
They should be born tonight when the lights go out, so I will capture them. The daddy keeps going over to the feather duster often, so this must be a good location for them.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! They are just so darn cute when they are born. Hope you are able to catch them all, but you will need to feed those babies ASAP. Make sure you start some BBS if you have not already.
Oh, and guess what?! My daddy is holding eggs again.
It's only day 1 (as I noticed him yesterday eating and with a much smaller jaw), but unfortunatley I will not be able to raise this next batch of babies. They will be pretty much on their own if they want to survive.
