IMO - any of the "Balanced" alkalinity and calcium additives are a good idea for those that don't want to use kalkwasser.
You'll run less a risk of whacking out your water chemistry if you use a balanced product, versus trying to do it with other additives.
Especially if you are newer to it and do not test on a regular basis.
Only suggestion I would make is to monitor and record in a log book, the pH, alkalinity and calcium levels after each test.
As you start seeing the affects of any additive, the picture will become clear. What you do to one will affect the others to a degree.
Coralline will benifit from maintaining a good alk and calcium, providing you have coralline to begin with.
