:D Thought I would get more advise for our newest member!
HeShe was born today. Seems to be doing great! He is exploring the tank. He is also breathing heavy, is this normal?
Right now we have him in our QT tank.
Can I put him in our 100gl reef/fish tank? We do have alot of live rock.
Any advise will be welcome.

I think that the other tank would be a fine home for your new addition. Two cautions however. One, make sure that the rockwork is burried all the way to the bottom of the tank because they will make a home by moving the sand around under the rocks. You dont want to squish it. Secondly, be sure there are no Angels, Triggers, etc. They like to pick on them. Watch all of the other inhabitants also. I recently had an issue where my blonde naso tang was picking on my Cali Ray.

hopefully he will be until my husband finds a bigger tank! I already see this one coming. I might as well have a fish tank house. I see a 250 in the dining room, guess we'll eat around it when company comes..................... Maybe we can have a shark tank dining room table.

A baby won't harm the coral, maybe shrimp and stuff. For a baby, a smaller tank can be a good temporary home.

You'll need a 180gal at a minimum in about 2 years tops. Try to keep her out of the reef tank. The baby's do not like bright lights at all. The book Aquarium Sharks and Rays by Scott Michael is an invaluable resource, I highly recommend buying it, it is filled with information. If you watch the trading/classified forum somebody has one for sale every month or two. It may be a few days until she eats. If she does not immediately eat the food within 5-10 minutes, take it out and try feeding again in the dark at nite time. If that does not work take the food out and try again the next day. Good luck with her.

When I first bought my Bamboo it was a picky eater. You just have to try different things. They tend to get excited at the scent of something tasty and will actively search the tank for it.

Still hasn't had anything to eat.
I bought ghost shrimp today, and he finally ate one and then spit it back out
I'll try again later as suggested. Thanks TD!
I'm also looking for that book, amazon said it hadn't been released
yet?
We do have alot of light from 10 - 4 (timers) He stayed under a rock today and seemed to have enjoyed himself. He is out and about right now. Last night or about 4 this morning, he was enjoying the moon lights and swimming around as well.
Our rocks are not joined together, just hours of my husbands hands in the tank:happyfish
Thanks again for all the support:D

When she gets bigger she will try and push her way under rocks causing a rockslide. Try ziptying them together to prevent this. Most online fish supply websites sell the book, don't waste your time with amazon.

They are hardy and easy to keep if they are not to picky on food. Mine would just eat cuttle fish.

Ifish2, they love SHRIMP buy it fresh an cut into small amounts, use a FEEDING STICK an train it, as soon as you open the tank an tuch the food to the water he/she WILL smell it an start swimming around looking for it.
GOOD LUCK W/ YOUR NEW BABY
P.S. be ready for a tank change in about 10-12 months she should grow about 1 1/2 " an month.
GOOD LUCK GOOD REEFIN:joy:

My only concern about keeping him in a reef would be of the nutrients that a shark would dump into a tank. Just about all sharks are messy feeders and produce copious amounts of waste. I can foresee an issue with the nutrient build up and the corals. This may have a domino effect, sharks builds up tank nutrients, corals suffer PERHAPS start dying, leads to complications for shark. This is just a cautionary idea and I would highly recommend keeping close tabs on the nitrate levels in the tank when the shark starts to feed normally. I would also highly recommend not trying to under feed the shark either as this will lead to a malnourished, unhealthy shark. It would be in your best interest to get the little one in its own FO tank as soon as you possibly can.
