Baby Clown Trigger in Community Tank?

Hey everyone, If some of you have been reading my posts you know that I'm re-setting up my 65 gallon tank. I saw this NICE 1.5-2" clown trigger at my LFS...but this time around I kinda wanted a community tank that was more or less angels, tangs, and butterflies...so my questions is can a baby clown trigger be kept with passive fish such as angels...so long that they are all around 3"+? Thanks

well, i really wouldnt do a clown in there. they are one of the most agressive triggers, and get huge. if you really want a trigger, id go with a bluethroat. they stay realtively small (most say 75 is a good size, but i think a 65 would be fine with only a couple more fish). they are also imo, the prettiest of all triggers if you get a male. but really, triggers arent ment to go with angels and tangs and butterflies. a yellow tang, a blue throat trigger, and one more fish that is hardy might work out in there. if i were you i would go agressive, i think they are alot cooler to watch and have more personality. do some reading and research and find some fish that you like that will go with each other. there are many compatibility charts over the net that will show you what fish go with what. hth, bo

yeah, I second that angels don't do well with other aggressive fish. And for sure not a clown trigger. Sorry... it's such a hard choice, community or aggressive. Just get another tank. :)

well this is just my experience, I had a clown trigger a baby humu humu, a tomato clown, a naso tang, powder brown tang, and a yellow tang, and two damsels in the same tank and never had any problems, I started to convert my tank to a reef so i got rid of the triggers. but as far as just the fish go i never had problems with any of them getting along. good luck and hope this helps

I've never had a clown with angels but I have had them w/ tangs and they were fine. No problems and no one went after each other. But, I'm not sure how the angels will do with the trigger. I would say if you have the money and want to give it a try go ahead but just make sure you know what your gettin into with the possibility of hostility in the tank. If you feel more comfortable with not doing it then do that. Good Luck!
