That's terrible, poor little thing. At least one was saved. Hopefully it finds it's mother.

Mommy deer won't care the baby has a human scent on them? Some wild critters are funny about that. So cute, with those great big eyes....hope she finds mom and lives a long happy life.

Bummer. Human scent doesn't matter to all animals. Don't know about deer. Mother would have stayed close so as long as it was turned lose in a short period of time in the same area the mother should be able to find it.

I agree the mom probably wasn't to far away when your husband came upon them.....Moma usually takes off and the little ones have natural instinct to just bed down and try to out wait the danger.....Sucks about the other......

such a cute little thing. Mommy wil hang for awhile, they do at my sis in laws house, when baby gets into their yard (fawns can wiggle through wrought iron fence.
Ugh, I feel bad for your hubby having to see that. Nothing he could do thats for sure.
He laid the baby on your bed??? all the critters where probably totally confused by it.

Oh he is very proud of our "backyard" deer population.....i told him after holding her....How could you ever think of shooting another one :( ...I got the eye roll.......I see many moms and babes year after year......he doesn't hunt back here very often, cause he wants the "local" to multiply......I told him he can't cause they are my babies...LOL...who do you think wins that one
