So I havent really looked at my tank in four days.. Much to my surprise I noticed that my RBTA HH just split. This is really sweet. The picture isnt that great but you can see the two mouths with white spots. I also have split some corals on my own. I now have six new colonies of zoos, and 10 new mushroom rocks. :jumping: :jumping: :jumping:

Mad1- What has been your technique for making the zoo colonies? How many individual zoos are you fragging, and how long until they multiply on the new rock? :joy: Congrats on your split!!

I usually break a colony of about 50-100 into four or five rocks. It is possible to do it indivually but I am not that delicate. Right now I just fragged another rock or yellow blue and reds... glued them together onto a flat rock and am going to wait for them to blend. then break them again and blend them even more. I would have at least ten polyps on a rock that way if some die you wont end up with two or three per...
Fishieness I will keep you in mind for a trade. I would want to wait a few months before I get rid of the new one just to make sure that it grows and doesnt split again. I have only had the original for three months and I am already excited. What is weird is that they are both the same size as the original one so they either grew quickly or the original was retracted for a while...

Not a problem... If you look up fragging mushrooms in the search there was a good thread about fragging.... Really helpful stuff. I cant remember who wrote it all down, but it has pictures and everything...

i jsut started fragging a bunch of shrooms!!
A trade might be in the cards. I would want to wait at least a few more months though because the tank taht it would be in is only almost 5 months old. And i have 192 watts of PC in my 40 breeder. Only about 5 watts per gallon but then again the tank is only 16 inches high. Im not sure if that is enough for an anenome even though bubbletips need less light then some of the others..... What do you think? What lighting and tank size do you have?

I didnt worry about the lighting when I got this little guy because I didnt realize it was a RBTA when I brought it home. I have a 55gal with 260 total watt PC. Basically a 48 in coralife PC. I am looking for a set of MH's on that auction site for a good price right now. :happyfish :happyfish

yeah, i want to get some metal halides, but not a lot since i only have a 16 inch high tank like a 70 or a 150 watt HOB to go with my PCs, or even some T5s to add on to my PCs. Since my tank isnt too high and i love mushrooms and other low to medium lighting corals (although i was never a fan of softies.....) i dont want to get TOO much. Just enough to not worry about LPS, maybe a moderate lighting dependent anenome, and a clam......although i could keep a derasa probably, they get 2 feet.... not so good for a tank taht is 3 feet long....haha
but you have only 68 more watts than i do in a tank that is much higher and your anenome is doing well enough to split, so i might have a chance at keeping one. but the time is not right yet for one. lol

Well just let me know.... I am thinking about getting rid of the new one in October. That should be long enought for me to enjoy it and then get rid of it....
