Hey guys,
got a new tank mate today, a 2cm baby Royal Gramma. my question is how long does it take these little guy to get to around an 1 inch. the reason i ask is he is so small that he is very hard to see and i cant wait till he get bigger.
cheers
Oooh, you'll have variying trouble trying to get him to feed..., try Brine Shrimp, And Mine is 4 inches long and i've only had him for about a year.....
If your gramma has competitive tankmates, he wouldn't be able to eat at all and eventually die from starvation. Juvenile fishes usually have high caloric requirements. So keep up with feeding him well!
these are his tank mates
1 copperband
2 firefish gobys
1 rainsford goby
1 rusty angel
1 six line wrasse.
So they are not aggresive and they are in a 70 gallon tank so there is plenty of room. i have heeps of live brine shrimp because i know it the best way to get new tank mates to feed.
i havent seen him feed yet becasue he is stayin in his little spot but i will feed several time every day in small doses so that he has planty of oppertunity.
any other tips on how to help this little guy out?? iam prepared to do as much as possible!
i should also add that this little guy was tank bred. so i think he just needs to adjust to his new surroundings before he will feed as well as the fact the he will be hardier due to been captive breed. i hope so anywayz.
You've got some competitive feeders there! Probably the reason your gramma does not feed....I would keep him in a small separate tank by himself until he gets bigger. He's just way too small to fit into your display tank.
cheers i'll get him in my smaller tank asap.
hope i can find the little bugger and catch him now. its gonna be along day tomorrow.
by the way wat would be the highest level of nitrate that this little guy could handle. i ask becasue i have a qt tank that has a no3 level of around 40-50ppm would that be to high. plus i can alway do a water change but just curious??
cheers hewetton and CGPuffers
Do you have any fish in your quarantine right now? I don't know why your nitrate level is so high. Yeah, do a large water change, I'd say at least 50%.....repeat it if necessary....nitrate shouldn't be higher than 20ppm in most cases. hope this helps!
