I was so worried about my tank while on vacation, Im am so happy it was well taken care of. I asked the neighborhood girl to do it she is like 8 or 9. I left like 2 pages of notes my dogs and cats had a 1/2 page . So now I am back. My SG is low 1.021. It is a 47gal bowfront. I use a large 50gal salt bucket to change my water I have it at 1.030 is that too high for the amount of water I am adding?
thanks

I would add a gallon of 1.030 each day and use it for top offs. After it rises to 1.025 then I would go back to your normal WC schedule. I did this and it took me 2 weeks. I am sure you might be able to get away with raising it quicker but I didn't want to put a lot of stress on the tank.

I agree with Jerry, better to raise it slowly, back up to where you want it. 1.021 is low but not terrible.
And if you raise to fast it could cause more harm than good.
Baby steps are better when it comes to changing tank params.

That's awesome! I am looking for a replacement. My 15 year old house sitter didn't do a good job with my tanks or watching the house for that matter.

Do you guys pay these house sitters, because if you do I'd take some money back and if you don't maybe you should give them a raise.

i would add .5 cups of salt diluted in hot water to the tank, let the water coo,l of course. very concentrated works quickly, and if you need to lower it, take out a cup or so and replace with fresh.
