Well, I'm back in the hobby after a hiatus to and from different places and countries....thank you army.

So, I helped my brother set up a new tank, and boy have things changed a lot. Sorry yall, but I took advantage of the changes and I know that there are old schoolers here who will differ, however the new stuff is awsome and works!!

So, with new tech, I tested with my brother on his tank. What is this new thing.....bacteria in a fn bottle!

Bacteria in a bottle is the next best thing since sliced bread. Here is the low down: 2003, setup a 110g tank. Was 2 months before I put a fish in and always prayed to the fish gods things would go good. Well, things worked and they didnt sometimes. Jump ahead to 2015, setup my brothers tank in january. For lack of actual dates, we will use fake ones. Jan 1, tank setup, water put in, live rock in. Great! Now the waiting game....or not. We were bad, but wanted to test this new thing in a bottle out. We used it as directed, and on January 3, we fully stocked his tank. WAIT...WHAT!?! Yep, fully stocked it. From the time we stocked it, amm 0, nitrites 0, and trates ran between 10 and 40. Let me say this...we fully stocked a fowlr tank....all the fish and anemones. 0 deaths, 0 illness, and all fish happy and dandy. Oh yea, another great breakthrough, fn LEDs! Anyhow. This kind of got me pondering....do I start one now? I mean, this is the shiznit...am I right?

Well, come May, I said ok. Now, I'm not my brother with no kids and all kinds of extra cash, so I found a nice 90g tall on cl with a sump for a good, not great, but good enough price for my wife to say....go for it. So...I did! What she didn't know is the lights sucked and not enough flow for me. Maybe it's my old school ways, but yea, so I got a new set of lights, new skimmer (I remeber the prizm when it was the next best thing since peppermint dwarf angel went on sale for 10 dollars)...and no airstones! This tank had 60lbs of ls, and 90 lr. This had a different cycling, and my brothers bottle just didn't do the trick, but another one did....just had 6 extra steps. Set up, clean, dose day 1. Day two, hit 6 storrs and fully stock tank, minus anemones...hard to find what I want. Almost two months later, no deaths, 0,0, and 5 trates. Fish doing great and everyone is happy.

So, with this, after my brothers tank, I studied up when I could on these miracle bottles. Some called it snake oil, but I'm here to tell ya, 4 tanks in 6 months, no deaths, and good parameters.... it is not snake oil, but the most awsome idea since the Pepsi got rid of clear pepsi.

4 tanks: 12g nano..the last one, 180g, 90g tall, and 60g.

All of them except the 90tall...my tank, used startsmart complete. First dose, then a half dose a week later. That's it.

90tall, used stability for 7 days. By day 5, parameters were good at 0,0,10. By weeks end, 0,0,5 and steady. On 90tall, did use am guard on day 2....I got a bit worried.

So yea, I am back in the hobby because of one thing...bacteria in a bottle. I'm telling you, this stuff is legit. The new chemicals that are out now is simply amazing. My brothers flame scallops are as strong today as they were in january. I have never thought the ability to succeed in this hobby could be like this, but it is.
