Background__Yes or No?

I went to the fabric store and bought some black cloth and stuck it up there. I really liked it.

Thanks Mr_X for the responce
I'm leaning towards black or (dark window tint)
Right now it's about 13 for BLACK
And about 8 for BLUE
Keep the ideas comming.

I was trying to choose between blue and black. I went to my local fish store and they had a large selection of the fake stuff backgrounds. I ended up purchasing a 2 sided background, one side blue, one side black. So i tried out both and the black was the obvious choice.

I have both blue and black on two different tanks. Black is more attractive. As mentioned, makes all the colors stand out better.

Make that +2.

I just tried the window tint.
Make sure you get the dark limo, it looks the best.
Could be a little tricky if you haven't used window tint before. Trick is keep the glass wet with mild soapy water, it allows you to move the tint into the right position. Don't forget to squeegee out ALL of the air bubbles too.

I didn't read the entire thread, but I will say that I did add a background to ours. It is one of the kind you attach to the back. Now i don't even get to see it as the rock and corraline growth has completely hidden it.

I understand that is what happens on an older established tank. If I had an older tank I probably would not have bothered.

I dont have the link since I am at work, but I read a good article on tank lighting that used PAR meters to measure light, and what they found was that a blue background reflected alot of the spectrum of light that is needed for coral growth where as the black did not. I am not sure of what shade of blue, but google might be able to help out. Personally I went with the balck painted background and am very happy with it.

I have black store bought. but if I were to do it again I would paint it black. But my back glass is also covered in purple coraline.
