I hate to disagree, but some of the liquids work quite well. A lot of people opt to avoid using any additives to help a cycle, and take the natural route. That in the long run is probably better for the system, however, things such as stresszyme do assist in speeding up the cycling process.

MY AMMONA IS ALLMOST TO .25, I HAVE 65LBS OF LR IT WAS IS WATER IN THE STORE BUT IT WAS SHIPPED DRY TO THE STORE, ALLSO 80LBS LS

buzz,
they do help. they help the store make money. the last 3 tanks i set up all cycled in about 2 weeks using live rock, live sand, shrimp and filter media from an established tank. i doubt a little bit of liquid that has been sitting on a shelf for 6 months is going to speed it up any more.

racer,
you have alot of live rock and sand, so it may be keeping the ammonia from rising. just wait and see what happens. if it doesnt go up in a few more days start feeding the fish more or throw a raw shrimp or 2 in there.

1.023 is a good level. the only way it can keep raising is if you are topping it off with salt water. you need to topoff with freshwater. turn off the caps please, your hurting my ears.

Alti - of course it is possible to cycle without using it. It is also possible to cycle using it. I used it on my 29g, and my tank didn't even cycle.
I used it at the tail end of the cycle on my 60g, and it wiped out the remaining ammonia that wouldn't leave - overnight.
It is filled with beneficial bacteria. Is it necessary? No. But it has it's benefits as well.

i dont know if you can do it yet. i think you need a certain ammount of posts. go to user cp and click on edit options. on the bottom it will say avatar. click on it and put in a pic. the pic can be no bigger than 50x50 pixels, so you will have to reduce your pic size. HTH
