Well,I got a new tank about a month ago.It cycled. It is a 75 gallon.I had, before my problems started,1 common firefish,1purple firefish, whitch got along great. Then about a week ago I added another purple firefish. The day after I put him in their,my old purple firefish chased him everywhere. But the strange thimg is,you would thimk new one wouldn't eat after that! But he is the craziest eater! So what should I do?Oh,and I ask too many questions, but when should I add corals and clams and inverts?I already have 25 snails and 15 hermits! Thanks,I know it was a long one!

If I remember,We all advised against adding another of the same species fish in your tank. Back then it was a 29gallon,way too small,Nice to hear you got a 75.Much bigger but maybe the firefish still think it's too small. Not enough territory for two of them.Thats why the first one is chasing the second one.If this keeps up,you will have to remove one of them.Do you still have your 29??It would be a good home for him. Don't add corals till the tank is matured.About six months.Same with clams, they need perfect water conditions.A cleanup crew would be cool now. Keep up the good work, and GO SLOW STEVE

I have seen many firefish kept together, I think that it would be a good idea to move stuff around, they are just trying to find their pecking order in the tank. If the fish is eating, he is not being harrassed too bad, and everyone in the tank just needs time to adjust. If the old firefish actually attacks the new old, taking chunks of tail off, then I would think about taking one back.

Hi,
You probably want to wait a few months before adding most corals and clams, although you can start adding the odd hardy soft or LPS coral in the meantime.
I hope you have enough lighting for the clams in particular, you want at least 5 watts/gallon (this is a bad scale to use, but it's the best I can do). Clams need a lot of light, and are best added to a mature tank. Try something like a Sarcophyton, Euphyllia or the like.
Regards,
Tom
