Bad snail?

Hi, I just bought a rather large snail about an inch an a half long and wondered if it was a cone or bad snail. I was wondering if anyone knows any good places to go to look at pix's so I can ID it. It's really pretty with purple spots on the fleshy part of the snail. I don't think it's a cone though, but I've only seen shells like this guy, not any live ones. Thanks, Ali

Umm, I'd have to ask why you bought a snail without knowing if it was harmful or not...

Hi, I'd post a pix but can't find the dang camera. I think I figured out what it is, and it's reef safe. It mainly is a deitrus eater, and eats algae as well. I bought it without knowing, because it is so pretty, and knew if I waited someone else would buy it. It was cheap like $1.50 . I pretty much knew it was safe, knowing the different species, but wasn't positive. I figured I would keep an eye on it do some resurch and if it wasn't reef safe, or posionous, take it back for fish credit. Thanks for the replies. ~Ali
