just tested my water: am=.25,trite=.25,trate=5; im going to change about 40g a little later,should this help. :notsure:
(210g reef tank with 40g fuge and about 175lbs of lr)

That will help, but about 30-40% will bring it down. Have you considered a reactor with a good absorbant?

A water change will certainly help if you are putting clean water into the tank. Are you using RO water or tap water? If you are using tap, have you tested the tap for those levels?

i have the coral life ro/di unit 50g per day. i assume this increase in my levels is coming from having to feed my tank more because of my moorish idol adoption. what do you think lion?

Yes, it probably is. I had forgotten that you just got the idol.
Well in that case, be extra careful when you do a water change. Make sure all the water levels in the new water are exactly the same as your display before putting it in. I would do a water change pretty soon though. Don't wait too long or that idol could become pretty stressed.

It should, as long as you have enough biological filtration (live rock).

That should be fine then. Just do water changes to help the bioload until it catches up to you.
