well i got a baffel cut today to see if it wold fit. alot of people told me that it would but it didnt i dont think. it seems to be too small.
i wuold think that the baffels should be touching both sides of the tank right? and should have all 4 sides finished so its not sharp? or just one side for the top? thanks.
and if anyone knows the exact size for a 30g tank that would be awesome

I dont know the measurment and if I were you Id take the side to side yourself just in case your yank is built different also you just need one edge to be sanded

its hard to measure since it is under my tank already. im going to switch from dyi wet dry to a fuge since im switching to reef
i have heard people say to take 1/16" of the measurement for the baffel after u measure the tank, does that sound right? or was it 1/16th for each side of the baffel?

They just use a sander so that you wont cut yourself. This is no extra charge. Can you imagine if the edges of your tank werent finished!?

yeah but do i want all 4 sides sanded? or do i just want the top sanded. once it is in the tank the only part that will be not touching glass would be the top so wouldnt that one only need to be rounded? and wouldnt it stick better with out it being rounded?

i had all four sides sanded. between the walls and the baffles, the silicone was able to pool up better. its not round, just not straight 90 deg angle that i figured i'd slice my fingers on. remember, you gotta use your finger to spread the silicone to get it even.

do you at least have the height of your tank? if it's 18" tall, most likely it is overall dimensions of 36x18x12. If so, get 11-3/4" wide baffles. they fit perfectly. You're going to have to take your existing sump out of there to let the silicone dry anyway, so you may as well take it out and measure it.

I had them cut my glass at exact measurments and then a tad less. I ended up using the "tad less" glass. Can you bring your sump into the glass cutting place.

i cant take the tank out but i can take the water out. so it will be able to dry under the stand. correct me if im wrong..
i got a test baffel cut and 11 3/4 was too small. i was able to stick the tip of my finger in between the tank and baffle...

well, without you being able to measure anything, you're going to have to do trial and error i guess. were you able to fit your WHOLE finger tip, or just like your fingernail? there will be some play between the baffle and the glass, that's where the silicone goes.
