Baffle spacing?

Is there any particular distance I should space bubble baffles apart from each other in my sump? I want to maximize space efficiency without restricting waterflow...

I think mine are an inch and a half apart, that was the smallest I could get them together and still fit my hand between them to smooth the silicone in the seams.

it really depends on the width and height of the baffles as well as the flow you have through them.
if you get them to close for the width/height/flow of the sump they will suck any bubbles along with the water flow rather then trap them out.
