baffles dont fit (with pics)

The glass I had cut is a few millimeters too long and wont go in "square". They said that they cant grind that small of an amount off and if I have them cut new ones, not only will i have to wait another week and pay another $30 bucks but she said there is a chance it will be off by a millimeter or two again
. So Im wondering if I can just use these anyway. If its just asthetic I can live with it but Please tell me if this will adversely affect the integrity of the baffles.

Here are some pics of them, I have not siliconed them in place yet

Put them in at a angle, thats fine.If you decide to get them recut have them cut 1/4" to 3/8" short of your actual sump dimensions, silicone will hold them in place.

Thanks! I thought it would be fine, I just wanted a second opinion to ease my mind before I dove in

well, this may be a stupid somewhat unrelated question, but how do you silicone the inside edge of the glass (the seam between one piece and the next)

Put the baffle where you want it ,silicone the side you can, then pull the baffle over the bead of silicone . Then push it back to where it goes and the bare side will take some of the silicone with it.

I had the exact same thing happen to me. You can fix them. Go to Lowes and get a glass cutter and trim them up yourself. That's the easiest way.
And I would think twice about going back to whoever you got the glass from. You can in fact grind them down, I did one of mine myself with an angle grinder. It takes longer and is a bit more difficult than just cutting it, but it can be done. Also, $30 for 4 small pieces? You could have gotten them from Lowes for around $10-$20 and they cut the glass for free.

I also had the same problem... I was able to trim them up with a glass cutter, my problem was the lower part of the tank was slightly narrower than the top part kind of a pain but the baffles are close to straight.
I also use the thinner glass, not sure on the exact size but it thinner than 1/4. They hold just fine but I think it takes some smarts not break them.

i got one in straight but I just left the other 3 crooked. No one will see it anyway. BTW no one ever told me that silicone will singe the hair out of nostrils! Im pretty sure I fried a few brain cells breathing that stuff...

just use thick plastic curring boards, easier, you can cut it with no problem, and cheaper.
