Ballast for retrofit

I have just upgraded my 75 gal to a 135 gal. Just pickup the tank, stand and canopy today. I am going with a retrofit that has 2 VHO's and 2-250 MH. My question is what does everyone do with there ballasts. I see everyones canopy with retrofit and can't tell where they mount their ballast. Thanks for any help. I am new at retrofits.

The ballast get hot so the best place is far away from the tank. I have mine out in the garage. On the floor next to the tank is good, just try to keep it out of the stand.

an alternative is to screw them on stilt-type screws so that they are not resting directly on the wood. think of how houses built on top of stilts, and do that for the ballast. i have my icecap 660 and workhorse 7 ballasts on stilts, which fully utilizes the icecap heat sink and keeps the heat away from my canopy.
