Ballast installation

Where is the best place to install an Ice Cap 660 ballast?? Instructions recommend above the water line. That would mean in the back of the canopy. However, I am conserned about heat. My second choice would be under the stand. This will require extention wires.

If you have an open back canopy mount it on top of the canopy, if it is a closed back canopy put it on the outside of the back. just make sure that it wont collect any salt creep. I have a closed back canopy and mounted it on the back and havent had a problem yet. HTH.

I have mine mounted on the side of my stand.That way it isn't as close to the moisture.

I have a IceCap 430 mounted to the inside of my stand. Almost no heat comes off these ballasts at all.

I mounted mine about six feet away from the tank, fastened to the wall. I had to add extra wires to the harness, but well worth having the ballast so far out of the way.
