Ballasts for PCs

Can i use any kind of ballast for PC lights or do they have to be a chosen few. Like i was searching for the workhorse 7 and found some other ones with higher rating. So i'm wondering can i use them as long as the ballasts are for Fluorescent lights?

Yes. The thing you are looking for is the number of lamps that can be ran off the ballast, and what wattage that each lamp can run. For example, the workhorse 7 can run 2 @ 96 watts, 3 @ 65, 4 @ 55 and so forth. Total wattage not to exceed 220 watts, i believe. Also it cannot exceed 4 lamps.
