Banded cat shark

I have had my banded cat shark for 3 weeks now, and he hasn't ate yet... tried frozen squid, tried goldfish, tried fresh fish from the food store.... any one else got suggestions... should I leave food in their at nite, since I know they go scavaging at nite?

Took mine awhile to take to his food. Try feeding him at night with the lights off. Wiggle the food in front of his face.

I've been trying that.... still no luck... how long did it take for you to get yours to eat?

Right around 3 weeks. It also took my SFE a month to start really eating. Watch him and give him a little more time. He should take to it.

what do you feed your shark?

Fresh uncooked shrimp. He devours it.

what type of shark do you have and is there a difference between a cat shark and a banded shark

I have the banded shark...the one that's black and white striped, when it is born

if you're still having problems getting him to feed, have a suggestion. Try small pieces of squid or shrimp soaked in selcon, late at night when he is active. Baby guppies or grass shrimp might entice him too.

Thanks, I'll give that a try and see what happens... oh, what is selcon? and do I get it in a pet store?how much is it? I'll let you know the outcome when I give that a try then... thanks again
