BANDED SHARK (ALWAYS HIDING)

I've had my shark for about 2 weeks now and by far my favorate fish. My only flaw about him is that he only comes out at night when he's hungry. The rest of the time he hides under my live rock. I can't enjoy him during the day. Is there any trick to get him out during the day?

maybe hes hiding because his tank is to small? what size tank is it? i didnt think that bamboos were too shy. is anyone chasing or picking on him or anything. water conditions ok? sharks are awesome. what does he eat? bo

He's only about 4 to 5 inches long. No one picks on him and i feed him raw squid every night. My tank is a little small now for a shark. It's a 200 gal tank but i do plan to get a 300 down the road.
Water conditions are:
ph 8.3
temp 78-80
nit-0
amo-0
nitrate: 20 to 40
i do have a protein skimmer too.

Sorry to miss inform you on my tank sizes. I actually help a friend out on his 200 gal tank. He doesn't have internet access so i always have to answer the questions for him. I sometimes feel it's part of my tank because i help him so much.

Maybe he doesn't feel good because the nitrates are so high. That could be the reason he is hiding and not coming out. Can a shark help me out on this? I always thought you should get your nitrates as close to zero as possible! Maybe I am wrong, but if I am could somebody clear things up for me. Thanks guys!
