Banded shrimp ate peppermint

We got home about 5am, after a night out fishing. And caught my banded shrimp right in the act of eating one of my two peppermint twins.. The shrimp was still very colorful (at least what was left of it). I figure Band just snapped it up as it strolled by.. we have had band for about a year now and the peppermint twins for a few months. I'm soooo upset..

Yep, just acting normal. It's not that they are mean, it is because they are cleaner shrimp in nature. While they don't display this behavior in the tank, they still defend their "cleaning shop" territory.

I have had my cbs for going on 3 years. He is quite large now and part of his diet was my other shrimp I had in the tank. If it wouldnt mean tearing apart my entire set up to remove him, he would have been gone long ago. He limits the type of inverts you can keep in the tank.

Well my banded has grown quite a bit in the year we have had him. Recently we upgraded from 30 gallon to 46 bowfront, and had I know he was going to start feasting on my other inverts. I woulda ousted him then.. but as you say Magooo2.. once the rockwork is in place ya literaly gotta tear it apart to get anything out..
