I rubber banded filter socks over the pipes that fed into my fuge and my skimmer, it helped a little but they kept blowing off!
Have you tried building those stockmand standpipes in the overflow???

Looks like a simple fix from "here"...

Water level too low in return chamber..too much "drop" over baffle edge...
Can you raise water level in return chamber to within an inch of baffle edge...and still have enough room for backwash...??
Then shorten drain lines to 1" below surface and drill a 1/4" hole about 6" or so up the drain line...should take care of most of the bubbles reaching the main tank...

Some internal pumps are famous for blowing bubbles, my old aquaclear 402 was famous for being a bubble factory (something to do with the impeller mag?) I have a GEN-X submersible that kicks out a few from time to time. Over a period they usually work themselves out.

Teresa,
What you could do is basically put a "s" shape on the drain line. It is called a plumbers trap and you should be able to search for it. It will cut down a lot of the bubbles comming down the drain which may help out some what and is pretty easy to do.

If that's an "as built" drawing on post #13...then the baffles are placed incorrectly...
Only one on the skimmer side and no "raised baffle".. and two on the fuge side both on bottom...???

Squidd thanks so much. I fixed part of the problem. I raised the water in the return section, and it has already cut the bubbles by 80 percent. :cheer:
