Bang Guy or anybody who may have thoughts on this:
Do you have a DSB on the tank you run your mud filter?
The reason I ask is that I already have a DSB, about 4 inches, on a 29 gallon tank. Later I received a gift of the Ecosystem mud filter. All the literature states you should not have a DSB with a mud filter.
Do you think I should remove the DSB? The tank just finished cycling.
I recall reading that you have mud in your refugium, and I think a DSB as well.
What are your thoughts?

tracklighter, attached is the FAQ section of Ecosystem, which states to keep your DSB under 1 inch. I know many people who run an Ecosystem and their DSB's are between 1-2 inches, with zero problems. HTH

I read that already, but I guess I am hoping that somebody will tell me that I don't need to take any sand out.
Do you know anybody who has a deeper sand bed than 2 inches with an ecosystem?

I do not have an Ecosystem. I see no benefit to removing your DSB unless you simply want the algae in the Ecosystem to grow faster. They are not incompatible at all IMO.
