Thanks small reef. That sets my mind more at ease with the purchase.
I thInk I will have to save up for it on the next couPle of paychecks.
Im considering getting a 1/2" return kit from GH. It would make everything look just that much better.
Just trying to get as much done as I can before Emma is born.

OK, after thinking about it, I'm going with the mag 7. That's 300gph for the scrubber, 300gph for the display tank and head loss and a little extra for a phosphate reactor. Outta the $200 I have left for some glass baffles. At the first of the year I'll get the protein skimmer. :)
Im excited.

Ok, updates:
One thing my mom taught me was to "use what you've got." I already have an external overflow that I paid for and haven't really gotten my full use out of it yet. If I just get a mag 3 to run it, I will feel better about it continuing to run, instead of using the Rio 1100 return pump that I have now. Since I'm not planning on keeping the 20g for more than a year, I won't drill it. The next tank that I have will definitely be drilled.
So, new updated equipment:
mag 3 return pump
Octopus NWB 150 (so that I can also use it on a future tank)
--
Phosban reactor
calcium reactor
ATO Unit
---
glass baffles
silicone
flat white spray paint
pvc parts
Rainbow locline plumbing parts

Snake looking over your list I really don't see a real need for a Ca reactor.....You could easily get by with 2part dosing IMHO!!!!!!!

Yeah. I have been looking at mini ca reactors and even if it's mini, the co2 system is the most expensive part. Even the media is expensive.
Im looking into a couple dosing pumps for a two part solution. Maybe even with a 75 to a 90g tank I will still be able to get by with dosing two parts.
What I am really looking for is ease of maintenance.

LOL, in the three years that I've been gone, Reefkeeping has come a long way. Most of the equipment has greatly improved - and the equipment that was awesome back then has greatly come down in price. I think it's time to take all the advantages that I can.

Oh, and now that I am working full time and got a raise - I feel like I deserve to spend a little on myself these days.
