I don't see a problem with it. Better safe than sorry. Health is more important than how one looks in a hat vs helmet.

players are hitting the ball harder nowadays... i dont see anything wrong with safety...

When the NHL mandated netting around the end boards, this was to protect the fans. The look of the game was altered maybe 1% (no big deal). This MLB move is to protect their employees without altering the game(again no big deal).
