base rock question

so i have to break down my 125 to drill and paint the bugger. i was thinking of ordering 50 lbs (?) of base rock while i have it down. i've never seen base rock, and to be honest, i have no idea how much rock is in there right now. probably 100 lbs or so. essentially i'm wondering if base rock LOOKS like LR. the rock in my tank came from 2 different established tanks and was covered with coraline, but it has died and i havent been able to grow any. i think its my lights. i just want to make sure that when i add this base rock it wont stick out like a sore thumb. most of it will go under my LR, but some will show i'm sure. pics would be great. i've tried googling it, but havent come across the kind of picture or information i'm looking for. thanks in advance!

I beleive there's probably tons of different base rock out there. My base rock is an off white color with really cool shapes (take a hammer and chisel to it). I have some good pieces of mature LR around it and it's starting to get coraline algae growing on it. But to answer your question.. I haven't seen any base rock that looks like LR. And it'll probably stand out like a sore thumb for at least 6 months.

thanks guys, i actually did a bit of surfing today and found some decent prices on un-cured live rock. i think it will match better and when i can upgrade my lighting i'll get some base rock and re-aquascape. i'll probably order 50lbs of medium to large pieces and see what that does for my tank.

I am a huge fan and a small user of Tufa rock. Very porous, looks like reef rock, and will color up quickly and look like it has been there forever. Oh yeah, very inexpensive also.
