Base rock

i saw some base rock for cheap i already have live rock can i just add the baserock near it or touching the liverock and it will seed? also is baserock live does it have to be cured? if i order it from a website?

You can't put a time frame on it.... but it will happen. :D

You can use a toothbrush or something to scrape the existing coraline algae so the spores will set up on the base rock.

I've heard 6 months to a year, but as bigarn said there is no exact timeframe. The trick Bill F mentioned should help expedite the process.
