Base Rock

I just left lfs asking about base rock they have no idea what it is. So I call 2 others same thing. I'm in Chicago (south side) anyone know where I could buy base rock I will travel to burbs.

money is an issue. someone on here suggested that you could get some lr and some base rock and the live rock will seed the base rock. just looking at all of my options.

they sell Honeycomb Base Rock here at swf.com....look in the aquarium supplies under substrate.
they say:
"Its the perfect base rock for reef tanks. The calcium carbonate rock is full of holes and crevices for your aquarium inhabitants to hide and flourish."
50lbs for 79.99....like 1.60 a pound. i've been thinking about getting some, not sure. if you get some let me know what you think.

I did see that on this site. I was thinking because I only have a 55 gallon and will also have to have lr about 30lb do you think that will be too much rock?would be be able to break that in half and buy something eles that I need like sand or what ever to met the free shipping quota.

nope, 50lbs should be to much, if it is don't put all of it in. you can always put some in and let it cure and sell it back to your lfs.
all they charge is for boxing it and shipping it. total comes to like 90 bucks.
