I'm sorry, but this is a really dumb post.
You say you're not knocking Tampa Bay "that much." How can you knock them at all? The best turnaround in baseball history, one of the lowest payrolls ever, losing their best player to injury, and still winning one of the toughest divisions in baseball. What is there to knock at all?
In the AL you have 4 good teams? Are the Twins no good? The White Sox? Yet you include the Yankees as one of your top 4? Give me a break. What do you want, 8 teams with 90 wins? How many good teams are there in the NL if there's only 4 in the AL?
No one else in the league was consistent? I'm sorry, I'm pretty sure the Cubs played well all season. What's your idea of consistent? 162-0 or 0-162? Have you ever even watched baseball?
Abysmal competition huh? That's funny, I thought it took all 162 games to figure out who won the NL wild card, and 163 to figure out the AL Central champ. I'd say that's pretty good competition when you need an extra game to decide a division and when most of the other playoff teams weren't determined until the final week of the regular season.
The Red Sox played pretty consistent to win 95 games. I don't they won won 89, then lost 67, then won 6 more at the end. You don't think they had the stones to win the division so they can't win the WS?
Come on man, at least pretend like this isn't the first year you've had an interest in baseball.
Sorry for the flame, you just seem to type paragraphs of junk that really shows you don't know a whole lot about the game, but like to comment on it.
go cubs.
I'll admit I'm much better at knowing what pitch is coming next than watching the results of every team.
First off I was discussing the AL. The cubs were pretty dang consistent all year. There is no debate about that at all.
The sox didn't play consistent baseball the first half of the year, they were what 10 games under on the road? They made up by having an awesome home record. They aren't bad. They do play in the most trumped up division in baseball. (the division deserves it)
Second I wasn't talking about competition the way you are talking competition. I was discussing the quality of play.
And the whole AL central sucked, I hate to agree with Steinbrenner Jr. But a team with 88 wins shouldn't be making it into the post season. Once again, I'd focus on their road records. These guys have been abysmal on the road. Good teams aren't bad on the road.
But I guess the biggest problem I have is that the baseball didn't interest me this season. And I'm an x's and o's baseball guy. And it just wasn't that good.
