Basic, easily kept coral without any maintance?

just so you know leathers exude terpenoid compounds, especially the cabbage coral (not lettuce coral, the lettuce coral is actually a hard coral Pavona Decussata) which would be Sinularia Dura, in leathers like the sinularias the terpenoid compounds can affect the growth rate of other corals especially lps such as frog spawn, hammer (Euphyllia seem more sensitive than most other corals) but as long as you do regular water changes as part of you maintinance itsnot much of a worry but it is something to be aware of. it's one reason I always advise propagating them out of tank instead of makeing cuts in tank.
p.s. I can't wait to see some photos. T^

I have a fish only with live rock tank with 95w power compact 50/50 blue and white light with 4' Hamilton blue led lights in a 72.
I have some colts in there at the moment and they are doing really well for last 3-4 years.
Now I'm getting kind of bored and wanted to add some corals in my tank but something easy that doesn't really require much maintenance.
Any corals of recommendations that could survive in my light set up and low maintenance?
It isn't a coral, but fan (feather duster) worms look awesome and are filter feeders helping the tank water stay nice.....the fountian fan worms have some great color, and Meowzer even has a green one.

I need to fix my return nozzle. It's creating small air bubble which I heard can be bad for the fish... (Although I had no idea of this..)
Do you guys think that long tentacled toad stool is too close to my shrooms and colt?
I don't want them to start chemical warfare without my consent....
Flower - feather dusters won't last in my tank lol.
between 2 triggers, 1 wrasse and a butterfly I'm lucky if I will be able to keep all of this hey but at $10 a pop or cheaper, I took a chance.
1dude- crap... that's what I thought too but damn it... I asked for advise again at the LFS but I don't feel too bad because I got it for $8 and I will raise him up to the top of the tank so it can get maximum light in my tank and I will just hope that it will be good enough...
edit: I think I'm going to upgrade my lights... saying goodbye to low electric bills.... sigh.... maybe MH t5s or something... right now I'm low on funds so maybe in a couple of months so I can really get into some corals like you guys.

Sorry for the double and triple posting but no body seems to like my pictures

I'm back with another question.
My toad stool wouldn't extend out during the day at all (used to in LFS) but at night I see them come out but not much...
do I have to give them more time or are they nocturnal creatures?
reefkprZ - I don't have much in my tank and I can't grow those in my tank in my lighting any ways... but I did spread them apart so hoping that it would suffice...
What do you think?

give them some time to acclimate to the new conditions, and make sure the toadstool has plenty of flow they need flow to help clear the slime when they shed, if there isn't enough flow for them they smother and get problems with surface necrosis.
edit: looking back at what you have for lighting I would start saving pennies to get some t-5's.

Actually very similar to kenya trees.
I have about 4 colts spread around the tank, leathers, candy cane, mushroom, small batch of xenia, cabbage leather coral, 2 long toad stool leather corals and small candy cane.
It's do-able under my light setting for now right?
I'm feeding them some coral food from kent + calcium+mag from tropic marine and iodide from seachem I believe.
Is that ok so far?

should be okay....im worried about the candycanes as already posted but i dont think u paid to much for em so wth!
make sure u test ur cal before dosing ! *tisk*tisk*tisk....
id feed the coral food like once or twice a week or 4 times a month!
Upgrade those lights bro!!! $$$

Will do so. haven't really checked my calcium level before because i didn't really care for corals but I guess I will start now. I have just been adding small dosage when I did my water change couple of days ago along with iodide additive.
What level am I looking to maintain on calcium? Anything else that I should keep in mind except on the leathers I need to put more water flow?
Yea, going to start my weekly save money box for my lights and keep my eyes open on craigslist and stuff.

well ur salt from u doing w/c's and such should make all the levels good from the get go...u want a cal level of 380-450 imo but others may tell u diff...
ive never dosed iodine...imo if u leave a molt from a crab or shrimp in ur tank for a day or so u should be good..although im guessing u dont have mush for inverts huh lol!
Ive never owned a leather or had intrest in em. I dont find em that attractive! I may one day though...
try testing ur newly made SW....i need to do this as well!

You are right, I don't have much inverts save about 10 hermits, 2 snails and 1 large red legged hermit and one decent size brown emerald crab in there somehow surviving well and I do leave the molts in there whenever they do have one.
I will test my new batch of salt water and see where that is at.

It started to open up!! I'm happy camper.
Tomorrow, I'm going back to buy some green star polyps and hopefully I will have some luck.
Open Question.
I currently have one extra 95w pc light not being used. If I use that one as well for 6 hours through out the day, what kind of option of coral do I have?
I really want to brain coral, torch or hammer but I don't want to waste my money on something that has zero chance to start out with...

you can try some frogspawn, hammers, just put them up a litle higher for lighting issues. We too have an N. trigger and he leaves everything alone
