This question may sound stupid but I cannot find the answer myself.
What is the difference between zoos and zoas? I can't tell and am wondering if they are the same thing. Oh, and palys, aren't those just zoos/zoas? Lastly what about acans? I can't tell a difference in any of the pics and my lfs's don't seem to know. (everything I can find is just brown anyway
)
I know this is something I should know...please don't judge me

Zoos and Zoas are the same thing, just short for zoanthids. Palys look similar to zoos but are larger and usually have longer frills. Acans are a totally different coral.

Just a little additional clarification between zoanthids and palys; zoanthids grow in a mat, if you look at the base of each polyp, they're all interconnected. Palys are individual polyps, not attached to a colony of any sort.
Acans are LPS, and they're similar to brain coral.

I guess theyre just big pallys.
I dont know how big, though.
Palythoa grandis is a variety, not a specific size. You could get them small and they'll grow, but you just need to know what you're getting.
