Battling hair algae, and possibly winning

So I've been fighting the hair algae problem now for awhile. Took the entire tank apart, cleaned off the rock. Did a 50% water change, etc, etc. All this about 3 1/2 weeks ago.
The hair algae started reappearing. I thought I would commit suicide!!
But, I've done several things and I think (praying actually) that I may be seeing some postive things happening :)
I've done 20% water changes, twice. Have gotten a lawnmower blenny, which truthlfully I don't think touches the hair algae. And two royal urchins, which really mow it down. But I keep having to move them back to the worse spots of the algae.
I have cut back on feeding, which I think cost the life of my filefish, because they are big eaters and need lots of food.
I have cut back on the lighting period of the MH's.
I pick off as much as possible daily.
My water parameters are always good. Had a low PH level at one point a couple of months ago. Bulbs are only a few months old.
But the one thing I did do, which I may get blasted for, is added a product called AZ-no3. I did as much research as I could before resorting to this, but it was either beat this problem, or dismantle the tank for good.
I've been using this product for the past 2 weeks. The skimmer has been crazy, I have to clean it daily. usually a cup or more of green gunk.
And the hair algae in the tank is looking less and less thrifty, getting thin and brown.
My corals seem fine, my clams seem fine, inverts good, fish good.
I'll keep everyone posted.

make sure you use ro water in water changes and use seachem phosgard you may have bad water or even using a ro system you may have to high phosphate and silcate level try also use a uv sterilizer.

I have always used RO water and phosphate sponges and pads, etc, etc. etc. I truly believe this problem started with the use of a different phytoplankton food I used a couple of time for the corals.

I added some scarlet legged hermits resently and the hair algae is going away day by day. Also reduced feeding schedule and lighting too.
