BCS and the Florida Gators

it seems that the debate right now is who is more deserving, but look at whats being over looked, if USC won their game they would be playing for the national title, now my question is as the the BCS voting goes, is how can a team play for the national title after losing to a unranked team. how can bcs even consider them in the top 10.

first off, Michigan didn't "barely" lose to Ohio State.....Ohio State led by 10 points for the good majority of that game and Michigan scored one last TD with a few minutes left to make the game look like it was close. the fact is that Ohio State marched up and down the field on Michigan all day long. Michigan gave up 41 points to Ohio State, and championship caliber teams don't give up 41 points to anybody. also, Ohio State gave up 38 points, and if they give 38 points to ANY SEC team, they WILL lose.
secondly, I watched the entire Florida/Auburn game (Florida's one loss). and if you watched that game, you'll know that the main reason Florida lost was because Leak had an incomplete pass that was ruled a fumble, inside Auburn's 15 yard line. replay showed it was NOT a fumble, but Florida lost the ball. if not for that one bad call by the refs, Florida wins that game and are undefeated right now. and there's no question that Florida had the tougher schedule. if I'm not mistaken, 10 of the 12 teams Florida played are going to bowl games.
now, I'm a South Carolina Gamecock (you know, one of the ones with a degree from there, like the Florida guy). and I'm proud to say that my team came within a blocked FG of keeping Florida out of the National championship game. in fact, the guy that blocked that kick (he actually bloced 3 in the game) had just tested positive for cocaine the day before and should have been suspended. but Urban Myth played him against us and suspended him for the West Carolina game. not too honest or classy.
but Florida can have the Myth and the NC game, but we got SPURRIER
, so I'm happy for this year.

The only reason Michigan is not in the championship game is because L. Carr didn't go out and bad mouth Florida , like they did to Michigan. Because he had class and respect he didn't sway enough voters. I will take that anyday over cheerleading and dissing other teams. Florida will get killed. The only game worth watching is U.S.C. and Michigan. And yes I believe Mich. has a good chance of loosing. U.S.C. has a very good team.
Go Blue !!! :cheer:
Its all about respecting the game
Maybe Florida will learn that lesson!!!!

Cubsfan: What Meyer did was not out of the ordinary. I respect Carr for his values and sticking to them when the chips are done, BUT college football is a business that rewards the most vocal. It may not be the RIGHT way to do things, but it is reality. Meyer just took advantage of the current system.
I wish I could find the article, but I read an analysis of the two teams that stated that FL beat 9 top 25 teams while MI only 6. The schedule FL played contained the most teams with winning records, etc. Unfortunately the decision is made by polls and formulas instead of touchdowns. The shame of the BCS is that it was designed to eliminate the post season contraversy (sp) and has failed miserably. If Ohio St. wins then all will be OK, but if FL wins then the screaming will start. The only true way to crown a champion is like division 1AA...with a playoff. I hate that if we when the victory will be marred by the debate.
I think you all might be suprised by the outcome. I don't believe FL will get blown-out (IF they lose). Don't forget we will have most of our starters back and healthy (especially on defense). It should be interesting.

So, it is your position that a head coach has that sorta impact? I doubt seriously that had a thing to do with it. FL had a much tougher schedule than Michigan, played one more game, had one more win, and won the tough SEC conference.
On paper, FL was the logical choice in my opinion.
I seriously doubt any head coach words would sway a voter. Most voters had their minds set based on if FL won the SEC championship game they were in.
I beleive the LSU Notre Dame game will be entertaining.

I agree its a bussiness and Meyer did what he thought was right. I just believe it shouldn't come down to that sort of thing. A playoff system for the top 4 teams would probably be a better way but I'm sure it has its flaws as well.
Sorry if I came off wrong. Note to self, stop typing when drunk

you must have missed the part where Carr WAS out badmouthing Myer and Florida. Carr needs to shut up. he had his chance, and gave up 41 points.

You never know what is going on behind the scenes...who is lobbying, etc.
I am of the beleif that sometimes...the silent one is doing more behind the scenes than one that is talking and stating a case for all to hear.
In fact, if Carr was not out making a case for his team..either up front or behind the scenes...then he deserves the game he is playing in.
I also beleive if Carr thought he could have done something to change the minds of voters...he would have.
No system is perfect..as you always have to leave some teams out that will state...they should have been included. At least there is a championship game...which is better than what existed in the past.

very well said, if you have a case let the voters hear, dont just just sit back and let off the attitude of it is what it is.

The SEC is the toughest conf in the country. I live in Tennessee and I am a Miami fan. I have seen each SEC team and Florida might have squeeked out some games, however their speed on defense is awesome. They have a better D than THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES. The SEC beats each other up every year. Look at the top 25 and count the SEC teams compared with Big 10 or even the ACC. Florida will be prepared to fight. I do not have a dog in the race, but do not underestimate the Gators.

don't need all this talk The buckeyes are going to win no matter who they play sorry/ Oh another thing, only reason MI was in the game was b/c of teh buckeyes. Buckeyes are head and shoulder over everybody

I have been watching ticket prices on ---- and those people are CRAZY. Saw two tickets sell last night for $3050 and saw one this mornign that was for two tickets and the bidding was at $4100 with three hours to go. I love College football, but I could use that much money on a lot better things. I could finish setting up my 120 and also do a 92 corner plus have some money left over to make the BOSS LADY happy
Have a great weekend all

lmao, they scored 20+ against LSU and LSU has a better D than Ohio State. so Ohio State better be prepared to score at least 28 if they want to win.

rbrokm, do you watch football, or are you making a joke, Florida will score, they have the team to do so at anytime, the buckeyes will have to have a killer d to stop the gators from scoring, when you allow 39 points points scored in a game i would say the gators are going to score.

For all of you that are so sure Ohio will slaughter the Gators, I'm sure you've mortaged your house and placed your bets in Vegas so you can become an instant millionaire. After all, it's a sure thing. Why wouldn't you?
I, not having the gift of seeing the future, will just have to wait and see.
